Hello!

This morning my PC just ran into an error at startup, saying "Your PC did not start correctly." I have been trying all day to solve that issue but without success. The problem is that my computer does not allow me to execute bootrec /fixboot command, saying "Access denied." No matter what I do, I always get the same message.
The only remaining option for me is to clean install Windows, but I would not like to lose my program data. The only thing that is preventing my Windows from starting correctly is probably a corrupted boot file or something like that.

Since I am not able to fix a corrupted file, is there any chance to somehow backup my boot drive folders, fresh install Windows and then restore them? The second part of the question is how should I restore the selected files so all the programs would still work as before?

Any help will be appreciated.

I once have a friend disrupt the window feature update in progress. End up PC cannot start and have to disable driver enforcement. After successfully start up then i proceed to Window feature update to prevent it happen again

Oh, and I forgot to mention: after all the methods I tried I now get another error, saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key." So I guess I made the situation even worse.

I don't think its a big issue. Try go to bios and select your boot drive directly . This can't help much as i only play with Asus bios only and not familiar with other

hmmm...the startup settings are not there. Maybe because I access these settings via bootable USB with Windows 10?
You are actually trying to reinstall Window rather than try to boot up existing drive. Of course the option not available in bootable USB because that is for you to reinstall Window. The option i mention only available if you try to boot up using existing drive with Window issue.
