Hello everyone,

My sister has a computer that sometimes won't charge. It starts charging normally when being removed and reinstalled, for about 24 hours. Before not accepting the charger anymore, if we do not reinstall the battery...

We started with trying the obvious, another OEM charger. Nothing. So I eventually moved on to resetting bios and uninstalling drivers in Windows etc.
Lastly, we exchanged the battery all together with an identical computer at a recycle shop, the battery that we exchanged it to had better battery health in Windows (79% to rougly 85%).

However, the issue still persists. Now however, the computer starts charging if we turn it off, hold down the computer button for 30 seconds and then turn on the computer.
This did NOT work before. It works now, for the 3 times we have tried when it stops charging.

Any ideas?

I think the HP batteries may be proprietary and contain some circuitry to control charging.
Original HP batteries will cost more than generic oem "compatible" batteries, but that may be your only recourse. Look for the exact same part number and HP branded.

We already changed the battery from one HP to another and it's the same issue.
