It ran ok. The Browser takes (Battle log) much longer than it should. Extra steps and all that. Ugh.

We go through this with every game that they make. Why cannot they just leave it a Server browser screen "in-game" and let US choose.

Got a Zalman cooler on the way along with a couple of other goodies as a direct result of seeing the heat take off.

I may stop lounging about with everything maxed out and clock the graphics down until the damn snipers show up more easily before I die. At least give me a fighting chance LOL. (Or I can hop into a LAV and let them fire revealing their posit)

I tell you what. The mass Population waiting to buy retail has NO idea of the death and destruction one learns in these Betas. Forums everywhere will fill up then.

I preordered two copies of BF3 from Amazon as I have been a long fan of the series. You can imagine my excitement when I learned that the Beta was available today. I have read several forums where people complained about Origin, however I thought I would give it a go. If you have used Origin you can guess where this is going.

Every time I visited Origin's site it brought me to the Japanese version. No where to be found is an option to change language. No problem, as I could VPN in from a stateside IP to get an english.

Once in I tried to create an account for my son, after going through circular menus somehow the account got register to my email. Nowhere in Origin is there a place to change email. Annoying because I would like my userID associated with my email and my son's userID with his email.

I finally was able to download BF3 after going through several different redirects on the website and having to put my username and password several times.

Once I finally had the game downloaded I went to hit the play now button and was brought to another login screen where it stated that my password was not usable because it contained a special character. I reset my password after several redirected links.

I hit play now again and was brought to another page to login. I logged in and the page said "Page not found error." I tried to log in again. Got redirected again, but this time directly to a "page not found error" saving me time.

I uninstalled Origin from my computer, deleted the BF3 beta, and cancelled my preorder for two copies of the game.

Please let me know when the game will be available for a working platform such as Steam.

I've seen posts around the internet about Origin and BF3, really. I've played BF2 and BC2, when I saw this I was appalled at the over-hype that was tossed into this game, hell, even I wanted to pre-order it so bad and all that jazz. The thing is, looking at full-res screen shots revealed that there are still many, many things missing out, Beta or not, 1 month isn't much to fix all the problem they have. I'll still get this mind you, though I'll be a bit of a sad-panda either way compared to what was said about it.

Gun pattern smudged
Ground, 'nuff said. Out of a PS2 game
Over saturated city colours, not vibrant as should be
Uniform sleeve/glove smudged colours
Treebark on the right looks like something out of a PS2 game if you actually bother to look at it.
The leaves on the trees really aren't that great

You'll honestly notice so much more if you actually look at the environment a bit more, it's absolutely disgusting.

And I was going to give EA/Dice all my money, put up with web-browser for server list and all that crap. Though I seriously reconsider now.

Cancel your pre-order Dice really failed.
 
Wow, I replied to this topic about an hour ago and for some reason its not showing up. No biggie I'll post again. Folks do not buy into the hype! There is no reason to spend big money on hardware to "Get" this to run good. I have run the beta on my system which is a Core I5 760, GTX 460, and 4Gb of ram, and am getting more than 60 FPS. I confirmed this on my wife's PC which has the same specs except she has a Quad Core Q9300 and hers was getting roughly the same FPS as mine. This is not a game that will tax your system to any great degree, in fact I havent seen any game that has taxed my system since the orignal Crysis. I mean if you feel the need to run out and drop lik $1400 on a new PSU and two 580's so your Core I7 6 core CPU will run the game like my buddy did, by all means go for it, but its just not necessary!
 
I hope they implement a fix so I can map actions to my extra mouse buttons.

Also, hit boxes are a little wacky. Getting shot through seemingly solid structures (bolders and ground) is a bit annoying when taking cover.

Apparently u haven't read the rest of the posts. The graphics settings are not working properly in the beta. Every once in a while the high graphics setting will kick in. Ultra settings will not work until official game release, high settings is the best it gets in beta even though u set at ultra. VSYNC not working either.

So don't base your judgement on ur system until official game release.
 
Yea, I don't think Ultra in the beta is the 'real' Ultra... if so, I will be very happily surprised. It does look great (no dx 11 though)... but being able to run it around 50 fps has me suspicious. I'm on a laptop with two 6990m's in crossfire. And while I can run most games max'd out in Ultra... games like Crysis 2 (w/dx 11 & high res textures ) and the Witcher 2 already drag me down to 35-40 fps max'd out.
 



Well duh which is why I said I ran the BETA, not the actual release copy. I also didnt mention that I am NOT running the beta drivers from Nvidia that they recommend either. That being said, even if there are significant "improvements" to the game or changes that do decrease performance, I highly doubt that it will be enough for anyone to really care, let along require the substantial dollar amount that my buddy dropped into his rig, "just to run BF3" because he was sure that two 460's wasnt enough. As far as Vsync goes 😛 who cares, it just drops performance and is a worthless setting unless of course you have a piss poor monitor that can't keep up.

Hey nerd rage don't get ur panties in a bunch. No one was even talking to. Btw what idiot puts 2 6990s in a laptop?? High-end gaming PC belong in desktops only. And u wonder why u only get 35-40fps with Witcher 2. Pfffft!

Game is ruined!! so pissed right now.. Been playing game for a few days now, and my friend showed me a site that has BF3 hacks already. Didnt think it was a huge deal cuz thought it'd be awhile for hackers cought on. Nope, was playing tonight and 1 guy had 30+ kills, and everyone was shooting him on the stairs trying to kill him, i shot my rocket launcher at him, then took some shots with my primary weapon, all point blank with five other guys shooting at him. Didnt even kill him... 🙁. 1 guy took out whole squad. Was on about 5 different servers and seemed they all had at least a few hackers. Its a friggin beta!! Thats whole reason i quit bf2. Hackers are ruining the pc. So sick of buying games for hackers to ruin the fun.
 
I put my cards on a one gig clock speed and upped some of the other overclocks to put the game into HDMI. I threw a bigger fan into the case to help out as well.

The game play is more than acceptable to me, I am getting used to the browser and collecting a few good servers as favorites.

I then played BFBC2 for comparing the video card afterburner data. The BFBC2 only needed about 480 mb/ card x 2 in SLI while the BF3 Beta used 2.3 of my 3 gigs per card x2 SLI.

The Paris game play in Rush focuses both teams. There were times I have had as a engineer to stick a rocket into a multi story window stuffed with enemies. A few more rockets brings down the wall for a few floors making that spot no good. Wonders what it will take to bring down the building. I am growing addicted to knocing down noobs who stand still long enough for the rocket to arrive at a direct impact.

Some of you poo on the Subway. There are hundreds of individual spots to hide in. Needs a certain courage and situational awareness to get into a hole in the ground filled with who knows what. Hides an army down there.

One big rule.

Stay away from teammates who run with tac lights on. They are the ones who draw fire first.
 
We've been playing the demo on the xbox using the FragFx Shark 360, any of you guys that have an xbox but can't seem to get used to using a console controller, check out my movements in this vid, I've been using Splitfish products for a couple years now but prior to that never pc gamed therefore never used a mouse, it's so much more fun to play with a mouse.
