It's a nomination, we're not certified, certifiable maybe, but not
certified.

It probably helps to have a few loose screws, but no screws
missing.

The ability to decipher gibberish, reading between the lines
and flashes of insight do help.

I fully agree that one does NOT need the MVP title to be of help in these
newsgroups..

Unlike the OP, I did not set out to become an MVP.. I was nominated by the
MVP Co-coordinator for Canada.. it came entirely out of the blue, and I was
quite taken aback, more so when I received the award.. it may not be
certification, but it is surely makes a person feel good to be recognized as
having helped people to a standard that MS find acceptable..

For all of the certification that I have ever picked up along the way, this
award takes top spot, and not just because it comes from Microsoft.. I
wasn't expected to help in newsgroups and I wasn't being paid to do it.. and
I still feel humbled that I received it..

Initially, I thought about not using the 'ego stroking' addition to my
moniker.. I came to these newsgroups to help people voluntarily, and
expected nothing in return.. but I saw the flak that other MVP's got for
their troubles here.. so I decided to stand with them.. I have always put my
e-mail ID up for grabs to harvesters in the interest of new users being able
to contact me more easily, so why not take the direct hits for being an MVP?

I am no less helpful to some and abrasive to others than I have ever been..
strangely (at the time), the co-coordinator picked up on my e-mail ID from a
post where I was really quite scathing.. :)

Continuing to try to help others have the pain free computing experience
that I have, I am..

Kind of reminds me of "Kung Fu" where he says "When you can snatch the

MVP status is an award, not a certificate.

Furthermore it is an annual award, and must be earned each year, based
on activity during the past year.

If I send you $1,000 can I be an MMVP (Much More Valuable Professional)?
