how often? as far as i know you can't condition a computer...

benchmarks come with a predetermined thing to run, 3dmark06 for example plays its whole loop once than gives you a score

if your looking to overclock read some guides around the net, toms is good but there are better ones

I believe i've confused the term benchmark with what I believe to simply be a stress/stability test. How often do you run such a test between each increment of raised fsb. i.e; do you run a stress test for 8hours every 10mhz increment. I doubt...so, then, how often ?

I did mine 2.4ghz to 3ghz almost instant. Some poeple would say its bad but i don't have problem since Q6600 is out that i Oc it right the box. I recently changed my board and did the same instant 2.4ghz to 3ghz. Maybe a beter expert would tell you why its not a good thing to do.

I just see if it'll boot and then make it through a couple quick benchmarks (like cinebench), and then bump it up more. Once I've obtained what seems like the highest stable overclock, then it's on to the long term stability test.
