The Phenom series is worse that the Athlon II series. You will want a Phenom II x4-x6 for gaming. For low-med gaming, x2-x3 is good. If I were you, I would get an hd6850 is you want to play new games, and future games all maxed out with that res. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127566&cm_re=hd6850-_-14-127-566-_-Product good card right there. PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341039&cm_re=OCZ_600w-_-17-341-039-_-Product I own that PSU and it is good. OCZ makes pretty solid PSUs and it is 600w. I heard that it can go 700w, but I wouldn't test it.
This is my understanding of how to update a BIOS. (I have never done it) Get the file from the ASUS website, burn file onto disk, go into BIOS, tell it to upgrade BIOS, and it only takes a minutes from there. Although, you could get a corrupt BIOS, but I would take the chance.

Playing at lower resoultions relies more on your CPU power rather than your GPU power.

About the BIOS update.I'm sure somewhere Asus has an update utility for BIOS and other things.Although my gigabyte mobo has it i'm not sure if your Asus will because it is very old.But still research on the Asus website for an AM2 to AM3 update.

k i think i found your BIOS update...
This should be your mobo..

Their is a wireless version too so make sure you check the eniter list to make sure you have the right one...

Once you've foudn the correct board go to the "Downloads" tab and Download the Ultility.I think it would be best to try in Auto Update it if it's in the Asus Ultility. If it isn't there then Download the Beta Version 5001 file. That is the AM3 support file.

Okay, you could play @ 800x600 res. and use a GTX 580 or a hd5970, it doesn't matter, it won't cause 'problems'. When playing with a low res you don't always need a great card, that is why we recommended the hd5770, but the hd5830 will kick the hd5770's back-side.

let me see for it....frankly speaking is hd 5830 worth a deal paying xtra than to buy a hd 5770.....? cuz i already made my mind when u guys suggested me hd 5770. now this hd 5830 has made me think again...so is it worth few dollars more ?

and hd 5830 has 1120 stream processors while hd 5770 has 800 stream processors that is the difference which i was able to figure out is it worth to buy such a card or spend few bucks more for the xtraa 300 stream processors of hd 5830 ?

ok....now tell me about the coolest card in hd 5770 is it msi or the asus or the his ? if the price reaches 150 bucks then wud it be nice to go for the hd 5830 which wud be around 10 bucks more than that ?
