Question Best GPU for my build

Build:
Dell Gsync 144hz Monitor
i7 6800k 3.4 (4.0Ghz Overclocked 2.375v)
Bequiet Dark Rock Cooler 3 Silent Wings
Asus X99-A II
4x4GB 2666mhz DDR 4 Corsair
RM 850X Corsair PSU

Hi,

My MSI GTX 1080 GTX, bought in 2016, has conked itself.

What is the best GPU I can get for my current build without a CPU bottleneck?

Regards

every fast gpu would bottleneck the thing. u want to upgrade to the i7 6900K or i7 6950X for the fullest capacity, if cpu does bottleneck alot, also u might want to try oc the ram above 2666mhz, maybe 3200? depends on your ram chip.

For the gpu, you could go for an RTX 3080/Ti or RX 6750XT all way up to 6950XT, or 7900x/7950xtx later.

What did my post say?

I'm only looking for a GPU.

I'm not doing a full upgrade across the board.

If it comes down to it i will just buy a used GTX 1080 or something.

what i was suggesting are that IF you feel cpu bottlenecked then those 2 cpu upgrade would give you a better uplift for cpu performance

Otherwise, a go for an RTX 3080/Ti or RX 6750XT all way up to 6950XT, or 7900x/7950xtx later.

A used 6700 XT is a good one with the latest 22.10.3 driver, it performs just behind 3070 by a little on DX11 titles, on DX12? its on par with 3070, tho YMMV.

A Sapphire 6700 XT would be palpably faster than the RTX 3060. Maybe go for it? If you think the price is right for you. (Better go for Sapphire because it's the best vendor).

It would be a very good choice and I don't think it'd be bottlenecked by the CPU. It is a line beneath the performance gap which'd be setting in any bottlenecking, so you shouldn't really worry about that.

If you can afford it, go for 3060. It is way better than 2060.
2060 and 1080 are very similar in performance.

Wouldnt my CPU bottleneck the GPU like 20% or more?

I dont think so. The CPU is a bit old, but I think it can handle the GPU. I had an old 4670K with a 2060 and It was bottlenecking a bit. The 6800K is way faster CPU.
