I am looking to get Virgin Media Gigabit and having two installation points. One in the lounge and one in the home office. Virgin only provide 1 router/modem. I do have the Draytek Vigor 130 modem and Netgear Nighthawk XR500 (this is router only, no modem capability). I am looking at having one port be for the Virgin Hub Router. Then the other port be my own kit. Will the Draytek Vigor 130 modem take a gigabit connection? I can get an adapter for coaxial to RJ11. As the Virgin line is coaxial. If the Draytek Vigor 130 won't do gigabit what modems would people recommend?

We are renting so I can't run cables around the house and have a PoE Network switch with APs wired in and ethernet ports. And I've never had great success with mesh WiFi or Range extenders. Especially when it comes to gaming. Therefore having two points the internet line is installed into is my preference. Which Virgin can do.

The port for the office is purely to have a wired connection for when me or my wife work from home or for when I am gaming. So won't have a WiFi broadcasted. Only the Virgin WiFi will be broadcasted.

Any help on what equipment may do what I am looking for or if my current equipment will do the job.

Have you confirmed with the ISP that they support to point of connection? Most do not.
The ISP is in control of what modems they support. They will have a list on their website. You will have to choose from that list.

Generally the isp only installs 1 connection. Maybe you can pay them to install more wire but you are likely better off doing it yourself. ISP tend to run the cable on the outside of the building and just drill through the walls.

You second problem is even if you have coax in both location you can only have 1 modem attached. You can if the ISP allows it put 2 modem on the cable and pay for 2 accounts each month.

If you have to run wire I would run ethernet between the 2 location. If you go with coax you need to use another technology, simple coax to ethernet adapters will not work. You want to use a system called MoCA. You need a box on each end. To save a bit of money you can get a modem/router that also has a built in moca connection. This will allow you to just buy 1 moca box in the remote room.
