I think I would have to go with ATI on this one. While the 295 performs better, it is also far more expensive. Newegg has the 295 for average price of $530. I can get an XFX 4870X2 for $380 and save $150 before M.I.R. They are a gamble so I try not to use them. I can use the $150 for a nice upgrade somewhere else or buying a part that I wasn't thinking of getting, but can now afford to,or, by coincidence, another XFX 4870 1G is $150. Put this together for Tri-Fire and have a better graphics solution. Chances are that if your looking at a 295 or 4870X2, that you have a P.S.U. and M.B. capable of handling it.

i have to agree ,the results are shown in a wrong way for ati and i am not an ati fan bo ,i have a nvidia 9600gt and love it

This msg board is full of gaming brats. Great article. Finally got to see the full power of watercooled GTX 295. Thanks for throwing in the decibal and wattage information too.

I'd like to see 2560*1600 benchmarks. With the fastest card pushing 100+ FPS in many tests with maximum quality on 1920*1280, and with my 30" monitor running 2560*1600, I would be interested to see how these cards keep up.

TH thanks for the free reviews, something we seem to forget.
I do get absolutely confused with the results however.
I have worked in the computer industry for 20years and it used to be simple to work out a fast video card.
Is it possible to have a back to basic review that allows the less fanatics to just run down a list and choose one close to their budget?
Thanks for the good work. DW.

The MSI GeForce GTX 285 SuperPipe enables high performance without requiring expensive liquid cooling. It's just a little slower than the AMP Edition from Zotac, but thanks to its dual fans and extra-long heatpipes, it has extra headroom for further overclocking
Temperatures and Motherboard Slots 2D Temp 3D Temp
Zotac GTX285 AMP Edition (GeForce GTX 285 1024 MB) 45 85
MSI N285GTX SuperPipe OC (GeForce GTX 285 1024 MB) 42 87

Is the table correct? The MSI card appears to run hotter according to the table on the Temperature page despite its heat pipes.
