Hello,
I need help. Like AMD but heard Intel is better in laptop category. Want 4core CPU. What is my best option?

For web browsing, normal office tasks and watching video, an AMD APU based system will be just fine and cheaper than an Intel I series. If you play games, video or graphic jobs, the ab Intel I5 or I7 is what you want, but only with a nVidia or AMD video card.

i7 is indeed going to be a better option - depends on what the manufacturer will support and the series of laptop.

Typically, thin laptops or laptops whose objective is longer battery life will use the i7 Dual Cores which use hyper threading (i7-2620 or i7-2640). Not a bad processor for daily use, but not something you'll want to use for design or gaming.

High Performance laptops are going to give you the option to use quad core procs or in some cases even desktop processors. Performance will range based on whether it is a 1st/2nd gen i7 and the stock clock speed. Most manufacturers will use the i7-2860QM but some use the i7-2960XM.
These will function more like a mobile workstation rather than a laptop because:
a.) you won't want to sit this on your lap unless you want to burn the skin off your legs and
b.) you will have less than 2 hours of consistent battery life

So, it depends on the manufacturer and what type of laptop you purchase. I recommend looking for a 2760 or 2860 - good performance without horrible battery life.
