Re: BH6 and maybe MS-6199 sdram

Greetings,

On my little desktop, I'm running a BH6. In the basement
I've got an untested give-away deskside box with a
MS-6199 slot 1 mobo (no memory).

I'd like to buy at least 1 sdram module that would
likely work in either system (probably on Ebay). I'd
tinker with the MSI system and if it didn't work, I'd
add the mem to the BH6 rig.

Is anybody familiar enough with this stuff to name
specs/brands/models of mem modules that fit this bill?
Stay away from pc133, consider only pc100? Etc, etc.

Thanks,
Puddin'

Any branded will work. Look for Crucial and Kingston.

Make sure you get double-sided. Singlesided may only show up with half
the capacity. (e.g. a 256 meg module will show up as 128 - i.i.r.c., on
a BX motherboard). I had to send some Kingston back to the dealer,
becaue it wouldn't work in my bx-133 raid. I ended up with double sided
Legend brand RAM and that worked just fine. Was a bit more expensive,
though. Legacy stuff, these days, higher stocking fees.

single /low/ density double sided 256Mb stricks
or 128MB ones should work no problem even if are PC133 ones ..

MSI MS-6199 = via 693A
Abit BH6 = intel BX

BH6 has no 1/4 memory divider, you can't really use 133FSB on it (i mean
FSB, you could still use PC133, just not at 133mhz)

if you are gonna buy ram, it'll be for your MSI board, as it'll take 512meg
sticks
the BX will only take 256 meg sticks (double sided, 8-9 chips on both sides
that is)
the 693a wasn't the best ever, you might have problems with newest ram, pot
luck really, you should be ok
