Question Big FPS drop in WoW

Hello, I have a PC with the following specs:

Motherboard model: ASRock B560M-HDV
Processor: Intel Core i5-11400
RAM: 2x Patriot Memory 16GB DDR4 3600 Series
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
SSD: 500GB GoodRam
Power supply: Vero L3 500W (SPC265)

A couple of years ago, I used to play with a worse GPU and less RAM, and the game ran fairly smoothly — and if not, I just set everything to minimum and it was playable. Now, with the new expansion, it’s a disaster.

I’ve attached logs from MSI Afterburner during a 20-man raid in WoW, and my FPS sometimes drops from 130 to around 10-20.

Why my CPU 3 work on 90% but other at 10-20 ?
I'm already considering upgrading the RTX or switching the CPU to an i5-14600.

Is anyone seeing anything strange here?

Do these performance issues happen in all games?

One "odd" thing I notice is a fairly low-end PSU that is underpowered for the GPU (per Nvidia's recommendations).

This may seem counter-intuitive, but if you are overclocking the CPU and/or GPU, revert back to stock speeds. Does performance improve?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You might want to host your files on a site akin to DropBox and then pass on a link for us to see. Speaking of timeframes, what sort of tempos do you see when the frame drops happen?

As for your platform, how old is the PSU in your build? What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Assuming you're on Windows OS, you might want to try and use DDU in Safe Mode, to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Moved thread from Components section to PC Gaming section.

I don't play other games, so I don't know how it performs in general.
I just use the PC for WoW and LoL occasionally.

I'm running Windows 10, and I also tried Windows 11 — same result.
I don’t remember which BIOS version I have, but I updated it along with the GPU drivers when the problem started.

Oh right, I forgot to include the link — my bad.
