please help me to connect my new router to communicate to the existing router wirelessly. My old router has dhcp enabled and 50 users having a starting address of 192.168.1.100. It has no wds capablity. thanks a million to any one who helps.

You need to run an Ethernet cable from the new router's Internet port to a port on the old router and assign it a static IP address, e.g., 192.168.1.2. Then configure the new router to assign DHCP addresses on a different network like 192.168.2.0 and add a router on the old network so that it routes traffic to 192.168.2.0 through 192.168.1.2. If you want to use it as an access point, then read http://www.dslreports.com/faq/11233. No matter the configuration, you need an Ethernet wire between the routers.

You don't need an additional network, but you need an Ethernet connection between the routers. Routers can't connect to each other wirelessly unless they have the WDS feature. If you can't run an Ethernet cable, then consider a solution like the Netgear XAVB101 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter Kit, the Linksys PLK200 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter Kit, etc.

my routers are wrt54G and W268R tenda with b/g/n. I want to have 2 different networks one for guests logins and the other for personal home members. I would like to have 2 SSID's and 2 networks ( guest and home). I would very much like to dissable SSID's and Dhcp's.and have the routers in different locations in the same home. Please help. Something here doesn't quite make sense to me. You want 2 different networks, but at the same time you don't want the second router to act as a DHCP server. How will you isolate the guests and why would you want to do that? Guests still couldn't access your local resources unless they are granted access rights. Guests at my place can access the Internet, but nothing else (I also have 2 wireless routers) and a wired router.

You already know that you need routers that support the WDS feature and you plan on installing the DD-WRT firmware on the WRT54G router. Since you need two routers that support WDS, will you buy a second WRT54G router? Have you read and do you understood http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WDS_Linked_router_network#DD-WRT_to_DD-WRT_WDS? It clearly says that WDS is a single network, but you want 2 separate networks. You can either have 2 separate networks, requiring an Ethernet connection between the routers, or a single network which requires two WRT54G routers and the DD-WRT firmware. Do you have good wireless conectivity between upstairs and downstairs? If so, then why do you need a second router?
