Don't bother. AOL is shutting down newsgroups. You might be better off
forming a Yahho group and posting characters to the files section.

Does anyone ever look at Yahoo groups?

AOL people will still be able to get to newsgroups if they want to...
there's plenty of places that provide access to them through web
interfaces, the most well-known being Google.

In my experience, no one who's not already a member of them. I'm not sure
that Yahoo Groups has any way to make a files section "public" so that
non-members can see the files...

If you're going to go that route, you'll really be just as "findable" by
putting stuff up on a Geocities site or the like.

There was, but that was a leftover from before Yahoo bought it and has
since been turned off.

Google is more than ready to take up the slack, alas. Otherwise we
might have been able to look forward to the end of September 1993.

I think Detryxtyr is massively overestimating the importance
of AOL.

I use it to create groups as needed, and inform people of
the existence of my groups (and other groups) when relevant,
but I've never done any kind of search on their site, to
find groups that match my interests.
