[SOLVED] Building a PC

Hi,

I'm currently gaming on my 2009 system and I am now at the point where I play new releases on the lowest graphics at about 15 FPS or less with frequent crashes and freezes. I want to build my new PC to have greater control about which parts go in it, the only problem is that I don't know anything whatsoever about PC parts. I have spent a vast amount of time looking into different guides and I just get more and more confused after seeing the 10th slightly different guide on how to get the best performance with parts that sounds near identical to me. Does anyone have a good build they could recommend and do you also have any good sources I could use to learn about what makes certain parts good? I have only a basic understanding of how a computer works. The purpose of the PC is gaming alone.

Budget is about € 1600 but not entirely set in stone if it could mean a major upgrade. I live in Sweden.

Currently AMD makes some of the best value CPUs. Intel has best performance at the high end, but the AMD Ryzen 7 3700x is incredably well rounded and well priced. It also includes an RGB cooler which will do the job while adding value.

This ASrock motherboard is nothing special, but will support the 3700x, support overclocking, and PCIe 4.0.

Currently 16gb is the suite spot for gaming. For just gaming and mild multitasking 16gb is perfect. 3200mhz is the performance suite spot. Costs mostly the same as slower speed DDR4, and far less than ram even just slightly faster. G.Skill ripjaws are generally very good and come with a lifetime warranty.

The Crucial P1 1TB NVME costs less than the Crucial 1tb MX500 and competing sata SSDs, yet the P1 is faster. Good value and plenty of capacity.

Nvidia basically owns the high end GPU market so they control pricing. No current generation high end GPUs in your price point are a very good deal compared to last generation, however the RTX 2080 super performs valiantly and fits in budget.

The case looks decent and will fit all of your components with room to grow. It is not very expensive either.

The BitFenic Formula Gold 650w is modern, well built, and efficient. It also will allow you to upgrade your system in the future. Not bad price either.

Thank you for the great and detailed response. I have been looking into it and I think this is what I am going to go with, I also very much appreciate that you took the time to explain your picks to me.

I do routinely download and install large files and I was thinking of upgrading the SSD somewhat. I was thinking something along the lines of perhaps Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5. or something else within €30 or so. Do you think that will make a noticeable difference and do you know any good options in a slightly higher price range?

PCP can do a sweden mode, tho sadly it doesnt include Komplett.se. tho a quick doublecheck is not a hard thing to do

I think I'll end up with a cheaper price if I buy parts from Germany and pay for the shipping. Some parts seem to be up to 20% cheaper. I just need to figure out if it might be worth upgrading the SSD

just grab what is suggested above. would possibly look at swapping the CPU, and especially the cooling solution.

swapping to an aircooler, and possibly get a 3700x for the higher threadcount, something that is becomming quite important these days when looking at non-ht 6 core parts.

I would just keep the p1 mx500 shouldnt be much if any faster for sustained writes.

Unless of course the p1 uses a cache + qlc setup like an intel 660..thennthe mx500 may be better.

P1 has more or less the same structure for caching.

Its worth noting you wont run into the limits of QLC if you arent writing multigig files at the time (30GB or more if its a relativly empty drive)
