Cambridge SoundWorks- PCWorks FourPointSurround

Can anybody who knows this 4.1 speakers system (which I bought about 6 years ago) tell me what is the most equivalent 2.1 speakers system in terms of sound quality (ignoring that there is no surround) ?

I want to buy speakers for a computer (not the one which I have these speakers with) and I need some referance for what should I buy. (I have no idea what quality I get for which price.. I need quality that is a bit less then of these I think)

I also purchased the Cambridge SoundWorks FPS 4.1 system 6 years ago. I still love 'em and they're still in use. Mine are black though.

Anyway, to address your question, why don't you look at the 2.1 Cambridge Soundworks selection if you like the sound of your 4.1 system? Something like these.

On a side note, have you found any other soundcards that makes use of the single 1/8" digital out jack? I still have an old SoundBlaster Live! that it works with, but I've been considering upgrading and would like to keep it all digital.

I don't know what's a "single 1/8" digital out jack". they are connected to my motherboard's standard sound ports, nothing special. (though I did use them with soundblaster live! until recently when I bought a new PC)

I'm not really looking for specific speakers yet, and I don't find cambridge soundworks' speakers around my area anyway.
I'm trying to find in what price range the speakers I'd buy should be, so if you can name a few speaker systems that have about the same sound quality as mine I could check what are the prices for them here.

On my CSW FSB speakers, I have the option to connect with either green-black standard analog 1/8' cables or I could use the single red s-video looking cable that has an adapter that converts to a 1/8" jack that is yellow/orange.

Since I've been using the same speakers for 6 years, I can't really comment on how others compare. My only advice would be to stick with what you know (Camb. SW 2.1 speakers) or go with a high quality name like Klipsch, Bose or Polk.

I've heard that Logitech and Altec-Lansing make very respectable computer speaker products too so maybe you could check out some online reviews of their 2.1 offerings.

I'm actually not looking for high quality speakers but something cheaper (as I said in the first post, the speakers I would like to buy can be of somewhat lesser quality then the Cambridge ones).
I was thinking about Creative SBS370, but if those are of about the same (or higher) quality as cambridge's I might go for something cheaper.

i also use cambridge soundworks which i love these speakers.
if you do not want to buy creative speakers,
then u can always have a look at logitech sound systems.
they are cheaper than creative with the same or better sound.

I was wondering the EXACT same thing... I too have the 4.1 setup... as best I can remember mine were purchased in 1999 along with a SoundBlaster Live... the Live has been retired but the speakers are still in use.

How much better would any of those THX Logitech speakers be over this setup? I have an X-Fi Xtreme Music for my sound card.

I still have the FPS 2000s and I love em!! I had some problem with distortion from the sub and it was because the speaker was rattling against a plastic post behind it...grinded the post down and fixed the rattling sound. Awesome speakers!

I had an issue where the rear two speakers weren't working anymore and its because the volume chord developed a bad contact where it connects to the plug that goes into the sub, I'll have to take apart the plug and re-solder the connections one day.
