can an ata disk be connected with a sata cable

i have a barracuda.....120 gb... and there is two sata pin on my mobo...so can i use a sata cable..... instead of the ide connectors ...please help..

I do believe I once tried an adapter for a sata drive to be attached to IDE port, but I couldnt get it to work.

never heard of it. so no. dont think its possible for a ~40 something pin ata to be able to plug into the ~6 pin sata without a huge converter card or somthing. you wont find a simple adapter anyware unless someone can prove me wrong.

Abit makes and adapter for what you are looking for. I used one for about 4 months and never had any trouble with it other than i noticed that window took longer to load than normal. I ran fast and had no issues in windows just in boot time
