Can i run an ethernet cord from one router to another and the internet still wor

i am trying to get internet down to an apartment below my house. I have wireless in the house but need to get it downt to the apartment. I have a netgear wireless modem hooked up now running the main house. Can I just get another wireless router and connect the two with an ethernet cord?
