I currently have the Gigabyte A320M-DS2 and the Ryzen 3 1200 but I want to upgrade to a Ryzen 2600. To do this do I need to upgrade my motherboard or do any sort of software updates before putting the new processor in ?

Am I able to install a Ryzen 3600 ?
You will need to check your specific motherboard on the manufacturers website. If it has Update AGESA 1.0.0.2 for 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ CPU full support, it will support it. Just update the bios to the latest version. I have heard a320 wouldnt support Zen 2 cpu's but it looks like it does with a bios update.

What are the complete hardware specs of your system? Depending on what hardware you have, it's possible that money might be better put toward other components instead.
Sorry for the late reply, I have :

GPU - GTX 1060 6GB SC
RAM - Corsair LPX 8GB DDR4 2400 MHz (will upgrade when CPU is upgraded)
PSU
- Corsair 550W
MOTHERBOARD - Gigabyte A320M-DS2
HDD - Seagate 1TB
CPU - Ryzen 3 1200
