In the near future I will buy a new laptop and upgrade its memory. Can I use my old laptop's sticks that are a bit slower in clock speed than this new system prebuilt sticks? The old sticks sum a higher amount of GBs. Both speeds are 2667MHz and 2933MHz.

Solution
Okay so it downclocks if the max speed is lower than the stick, but if it's higher I guess you only lose potential faster speed?
If you replace the new sticks that have low capacity but higher speed.....2933?
With the old sticks that have higher capacity but lower speed....2667?
You should end up with higher capacity but lower speed.....trade off.

Sure, that's what I'm thinking of, but I wasn't sure if its feasible compatibility-wise.
