Can my PS3 be hooked up via displayport on a dell monitor?

Can I hook up my PS3 to my Dell monitors displayport? I would use this adaptor http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.28554, use the ps3's hdmi output to the adaptor into the dell monitor. I just need the video to go through I do not need sound.

It should work. Just make sure you use the correct gender between PS3, Converter, and the cable.

Well I finally tried this out after having the adaptor sitting around my house for awhile. It does not work, with the adaptor from dealextreme, a dell P2310H, and my PS3 outputting video via HDMI.
