On my Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H board I can only run memory in slots 1,3 (maybe 2,4) but can't run on 1,2 or 3,4 or 1,2,3,4. Sometimes it'll post at 1,2 but loop at some writing checksum to bios.. mesage. Or sometimes error starting windows. I've replaced just about every piece of hardware except motherboard.

I seem to have the same issue on my other AM3 board but isn't much issue.

I have 3 sets of memory 2 of the 2x2GB and 1 2x4GB with settings of 1333 and 1600. I really need to be able to run either 12GB or 16GB on this workstation. I'm hoping I can run the 2x4Gb with 2x2GB which I have laying around. Is there anything I can do?

Your manual should show how to install your memory. To run dual channel you can not put them side by side. You use either 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. Make sure you use matched sets and they are all compatible
