So I am not a very tech savvy person and I just made an account here because I'm at my wit's end. I bought the ASUS TUF Gaming FC505DD-DR5N6 gaming laptop and I learned I could upgrade /replace both the ram and storage. And while I had no issue upgrading/adding the SSD's I've been unable to to get ram that actually fits in the slots, the little indent in the cards(I dunno what it's called) never lines up right) despite doing my best to find/research the right type of ram to get, I have used Crucials computer scanner as well however when I go to amazon to purchase I look at the reviews and I see it's not actually compatible? I have no idea what to do at this point and I've bought and had to send ram back at least 4 times now because I cannot find a straight answer to this anywhere. Am I just Removed stupid? Probably...

Edit: A friend of mine found this thread and called me haha, he is gunna take over from here. Thank you for anyone who tried helping my dumbbutt.

I don't find that laptop in the Asus website. I must be stupid.

I only find ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DD/DT/DU

I think on the website its just FX505DD, Im just reading off what it says on the sticker underneath which says FX505DD-DR5N6, from what Ive "researched" there are two versions of the FX505DD. DR5N6 and BQ054T.. I don't understand what any of this <Mod Edit> means I bought this thing at Bestbuy.

BTW laptops use SODIMM RAM and not just normal DIMM :)

Someone else than me will have to come in here and propose to use some RAM for it. You can see some you can buy in that link but I have no idea really. :)

another time I bought it from a Fry's nearby after taking the ram that came with the laptop with me to show them there...still weren't able to help. I could take a picture of that probably.

a friend told me the kingston ones should work but they didn't didn't.

I'm such a neophyte when I talk about laptops. I built over a thousand desktop systems but laptops... lol. The ram you bought seems like it should have worked. They have the same (PC4-19200) as the link I sent you. I have no idea why you couldn't install them. The way you install laptop RAM is just pushing the ram in the slot and pushing it down after it's in. It only goes in on one side because of the notch obviously. I guess you will have to wait for someone with more experience than me with laptops 😉
