[SOLVED] Cannot locate second ram slot on laptop

Hi. I have an Acer Aspire a315-55g.
Cpu-z and general device information tell me that my laptop has two ram slots, of which one is currently in use with one stick of 8gb. However, when opening the laptop up, I cannot seem to find where the second stick would be supposed to go.

I had removed that one and tried to get it one lower. Maybe I didn't try hard enough, but that doesn't seem possible.

Any ideas?

Currently, it says only 1 slot is in use. When opening up my laptop, I was able to remove that stick and put it back in. So that's not soldered.
Or do you mean that the other slot not in use is soldered and thus cannot even be used?

You have one slot to add ram.

4GB is soldiered.

The biggest stick you can add is 16GB for a 20GB total.

Aww damn, I missed that part when I did the system scanner of crucial. I saw this and thought aha, multiple slots!

For anyone still reading this, I bought a 16gb stick and just placed it in my laptop. However, instead of showing 20gb (which it should if the 4gb was really soldered in) it shows that i have 16 gigs, and still one slot free. Anyone have an idea as to why? Is it just incorrect or am I missing something here?

Are you sure you have properly identified your laptop and what it is configured as?
Looking up by the serial number may tell you.

Normally, adding ram works just fine. But for your model, resetting the bios may be needed. How you do that, IDK.
