Hello, I have a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop which has a problem with how fast it heats up.

To combat this I used new thermal paste (a decent brand I tried before) and I clean it regularly but it has an issue with how the fans' speed slow down at unsuitable heat degrees for the cpu so I used replica fans for this model which usually always run fixed at high speed for some reason, I don't mind the noise since it does the trick and keeps the laptop cooled down decemtly while gaming and it doesn't feel like it will burn or do an emergency shutdown anymore which is what I want but the problem now is the replica fans after a while always break down for one reason or another either both fans or only one and Im left with one fan slower than the other because it jammed or whatever

I just bought a new replica fan each time and it would run at the fixed high speed so that solves the issue

But now for whatever reason I can't find a replica when I need it now and so I had to buy an original one but this one has the issue of fans slowing down at certain degrees so it's not optimal for gaming this way because the predetirmend heat degrees are [redacted vbulgarity] so if the laptop is at 85 degrees if it goes down to 79 the fan would slow down for example and that's very bad because it would rise again higher than 85 bevause the fan didnt cool it down fast enough when it's speed went up again

The fan control apps or options even in the msiafterburner are locked so I can't control it's speed from desktop

I was able to enter the (normally hidden) advanced options in the bios menu when starting up the laptop and it shows the thermal fan speed options inside "platform thermal configuration"

In there I can set the high and low fan speed to a percentage from 0 to 100 and choose which temperature is considered low or high so the fan only speed up or slows down when reaching these temperatures

The issue is if I for example make the low speed and high fan speed into let's say 90 percent so it would be high on both tempratures

And set the tempratures to whatever I want, say low temp is 47 and high is 68 or something similar, I can hear the fans' speed going up while in the bios menu and then I save and exit and it continues like this but as soon as windows boots up and the log in screen appears the fans resets again to it's slow speed like the bios options I adjusted don't affect it now in any way

Can you please tell me what's causing this and how to fix it so the fan speeds I set in the bios remains after windows boots up while I'm using the laptop normally because it's really limiting with the way it heats up otherwise

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You might want to try and make sure you're on the latest BIOS version for your laptop, then use ThrottleStop to undervolt the iGPU, Vcore and cache as well as the iGPU on the laptop.
I do have the latest bios when i check the lenovo site

I have throttlestop but I dont know about the undervolting steps so I'll checl these options, is it just for undervolting for heat or do you mean it will affect the fan speed

If it won't do you know of a way I can control the fan speed or just set it at max?

Thank you

If you can set the "fan curve" options and they work in BIOS Setup, but are cancelled when you boot into Windows, then I expect that you have a software utility (like MSI Afterburner or something else) that is being loaded automatically by Windows as a normal background app. You should examine what Windows is loading according to its start-up files.

Even if the fans options are locked? Can afterburner still affect it?

I tried undervolting the mentioned options with throttlestop but it didnt do much, the main issue is that the fan keeps slowing down as soon as the temp goes down from high to tolerable which makes it rise again even higher since the airflow slowed down

So please someone tell me a way to forcefully control the fan speeds or just set it to max all the time anytime the laptop is opened
