hey all,

i dont suppose anyone know of a way where i can resume from the hybrid hibernate/suspend power mode in vista? My bios has some power on options using the keyboard, but it mentions it being a PS2 keyboard. I've got a USB keyboard.

when i suspend the pc, everything shuts down although i still hear some fans going and the power light is blinking. But nothing i do will wake it up. So i have to turn it off and then back on. Which pretty much defeats the whole point of the suspend state. For now i'm disabling the hybrid suspend and just using hibernate.

If it matters, i'm using an asus P5K SE motherboard.

well one reason to hibernate is to completely shut down the pc as well as saving the system state to disk. That way if the power happens to go out, you can still resume the system.

I managed to get the hybrid sleep to work by doing the following:
1. Go into Control Panel/Hardware & Sound/Device Manager
2. Find your keyboard and mouse, right-click them, and UNCHECK "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" in the Power Management tab. (more on this later)
3. Also, under Universal Serial Bus controllers in the Device Manager, right-click on each USB Root Hub device and check the box to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" on the Power Management tab.

doing this i can now use the hybrid sleep state...
I have had this happen on many different machines.. the only way I found out how to stop it is turn hibernate off. That is probably not a lot of help, but I have never seen a reason to hibernate...

This also resolved a problem i had when hibernating where my wireless mouse would wake up the system. Usually i had to unplug the receiver for the wireless mouse otherwise the system would just power back up. But now i dont have to do that.
