Hi
As the title says.. I'm a casual gamer.
But I do play one semi-competitive fps game. Crysis 1 😉
I have a 60hz monitor, and I use v-sync (for a cool and silent computer). but it doesn't have g-sync/freesync.
Now I'm looking to get a new monitor with higher refresh rate and sync.

Wouldn't it be a pretty good and noticeable upgrade for me to go from 60hz unsynced to 75hz with freesync/g-sync?

I really don't think I will need a higher refresh rate monitor for gaming, as I already like to limit my computer to have it less hot and noisy.
But maybe I will regret not having like 120hz in windows etc.?

Bonus question:
Is it best to set a max framerate at a few frames below the monitor's max speed?
Please give me other input or tips if you have :)
Thank you

I don't think so. Those monitors tend to have the poorest implementation of FreeSync just so they can slap it on their spec sheet. You're basically looking at a range of 60-74 FPS when VRR kicks in for most of them. And while some people may be able to tell the difference between 60 and 75 Hz, I still don't think that's enough to justify getting a monitor upgrade.

As far as the bonus question goes, yes, you have to set a maximum frame rate slightly below the refresh rate for best results. I have a post about this here: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/g-sync-question.3753623/#post-22635003
