I lost the drive that reads and runs my cd rom on my pc

Device manager: Update or roll back your driver

I opened the cover to check to see if it was connected properly. It was. when I open up my computer it is not recognizing it, although the cd rom physically works, system is not recognizing it nor reading it.

1 -Bring up "Disk Management:
(Right click My Computer > Manage.)
Under " Storage" > Click Disk Management.

2 - Insert media in CD Drive - Should see the Drive letter, file system,
Status healthy etc.
If drive letter is missing you can assign one by hilighting CD, Click Action, all tasks.

Also check device manager for error code, and event viewer for any errors.
