Hello. I'm a new member and I was hoping someone could help me with my problem.

Lately, my pc has been freezing when installing games using my ASUS cd-rw (my only optical drive). Even the games that I had installed before with no problems. Cleaning it didn't solve the problem.

Errors in the event log are as follows: "The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block". And "An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation".

Someone suggested that it may be due to memory problem and I
did have some memory compatibility issues with two kingston value ram modules (1 single-sided and 1 double-sided) but I solved them when I placed them in dimms 2 and 3 (And Memtest86 shows no errors).

Any ideas as to what could be causing these problems?

Thanks

My specs:
Athlon 64 3000 (Socket 754)
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
1 gig (2 x 512 MB) DDR400 Kingston Value RAM
80 gb Seagate Barracuda SATA
ASUS CD-RW
GeCube 9550GT 256 mb AGP-8X (425/400)
Enermax EG365P-VE 350W ATX12 v1.3

Well with a bad block error the memory cache on the CDRW itself may be bad, do you have another drive, or know of a friend that you could borrow one from, to swap it out and test it.
