First, here are my specs:

AMD Opteron 165 | Asus A8N5X mobo | 19" BenQ LCD | 2 GB Corsair PC3200 Ram| 250GB Hitachi Hdd/60 GB WD HDD | RW 550w PS | EVGA Geforce 7800GT | Logitec 5.1 surrond sound speakers w/subwoofer z-560

I had changed my battery which did not work. I ended up calling ASUS and they sent me a bios chip. It worked for a while, but now every time my comp loses power, everything in the bios resets. I did purchase a UPS but I am afraid that will not rectify my problem considering once the battery dies if the power goes out, I will run into the same problem anyway.

So I am wondering what else I can do. I am considering RMA'ing the Mother board because I cannot think of anything else that may be causing this.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would send the board back to the vender for a refund or partial credit, and get something else. You could try a bios flash but if you don't do it correctly, you'll end up with a dead board, and have to get another bios chip. Some asus boards are picky about the power supplies. I've never heard of an "rw" power supply. I use antec, fortron, or enermax.

It is a Rosewill power supply...I know but don't laugh, it got very good reviews on a few sites :)

Anyway this problem has been happening before I got this new PS, but I have to agree about RMA'ing the board. Something just does not seem right with it.

Part of me says to just send the motherboard back. However, it is always possible that the power supply could be insufficient, or may not be supplying enough power, or the power may be fluctuating. Make sure you have the 4 hole plug plugged in and that if you need a 24 pin power supply that you are using one. The adapters can cause serious problems.

You COULD use the asus update utility to [re]flash your bios and,,if that does not work, then,RMA the board PDQ,'cause it seems like something is draining your battery, check the bottom and top of the mobo for any solder joints that are touching, was a problem 'way back in the vesa days with some mobo's..:))
And are you sure that the battery is seating properly???

I'm going to check it all out this week. As far as I know the battery is seated properly and the chip ASUS sent me should have updated the bios (that is what the tech said). Weird thing is, it DID work after I replaced the chip, then when it lost power down the road, it gave me the checksum error. So maybe somehow the battery is being drained, but who knows how it is being drained. I will probably replace the battery again and see if that works. If not, I'll RMA the board.
