I have a family member who has new HP Desktop, i7 920, 8 gig of memory, home premium 64 bit Vista.

Call to HP Techs have not produced any results. They are getting blue screens indicating Windows must shut down because of (2) issues at this time which are: Hardware conflicts & Clock issues. Device manager doesn't indicate any issues, when I was reviewing the computer, it hung up on me with warning. HP told them not to download any updates which I degree with, they have uploaded all Windows updates now, have not downloaded some optional updates on some USB Hub and ATI graphic card.

Any assistance would be appreciated - Thanks for your help!

Thanks Aford10, the issues started as soon as they received the computer. It seems they have had one issue after another, these are recent ones. Since it is not my computer, I can't be there when all these things happen and they just keep calling HP tech with no solutions. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Blue screen to family member as per email to me = the following was what was said:

A Problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop Error Screen, restart your computer. If screen appears again, follow these steps.

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware of software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use SAFE MODE to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

They have called HP on this one before and it now has returned!

It sounds like possible reply by aford10 = ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! THANKS
