I am trying to restore my Galaga coin door. I removed everything from it
and just finished sandblasting all the paint off of it. (wondering if that
was a good thing)

What's the best way to paint it so that it looks close to original as
possible?

I plan to prime and paint it matte black but, wondered if there was a
better way.

I've found that the Woot! is one of the most critical steps :)

1) Prime it.
2) Spray a light coat of stone-texture speckle paint. Any color is ok. Let
it dry thoroughly.
3) Sand it lightly to reduce the texture of the stone paint.
4) Spray it with Rustoleum 7777 Satin Black.
5) Woot!

I've restored several and always use a semi gloss or satin black. I
normally lightly sand blast the surface and leave most of the textured
flakes on the door, then prime and spray black.
