I'm not sure if this is related but here goes....I have an
ASUS SK8N motherboard. I used the ASUS auto update to
flash my bios and now my computer doesn't recognize/ show
any LPT ports (in the device manager)at all. I have tried
uninstalling my printer software/drivers and I reinstalled
them. The printer shows to be set for LPT1 in the printer
properties dialog box.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the lpt port is enabled in the bios.

After flashing the BIOS, did you reset/clear it as per the instructions?
Did you then set the ports in BIOS to be EPP or ECP?
