Connecting problem

Hello.I have a netbook which run xp home edition on it and It has not join to the domain.Whenever I want to access to a shared printer or files(which computer runs 7 Ultimate), I am asked a username and password and after that for a while that Laptop goes to sleep and comeback I am asked the username and password again.It drives me crazy.plz give me a hand.
