Zoron :
I like the fan in the top of the 900... that was exactly why I went with it. It moves a fair amount of air without a lot of noise... all the other fans running in my system make enough. My Lian Li though is probably still my favorite... getting inside and working on anything with it was a breeze... all thumbscrews. The only things not secured by thumbscrews were the drives themselves.
I'm not bashing the 900 I almost bought it, as a matter of fact I've had my eye on it for at least a year now, the top fan only turned me off because of my present case modifications to my Cheiftec gaming case.
I modded the case to accept 2 120mm blowholes, then later remodded it to accept 2 140mm fans of which the first set of 140mm I purchased didn't pull enough air, actually the 140mm fan at the time of this mod had just come on the market and I had to go with the Sharkoons at the time as they were the highest CFM 140mm fans I could find.
The Sharkoon 140mms worked great, but that made me leary of the higher diameter fans silent claims not pulling the air I want moved, thats just my explanation for my choice, the 900 may be all its claimed to be, its just the Coolermaster Centurion 590, is what I decided on.
Also my favorite case is my old Cheiftec Dragon, its gone through about 5 different modding sessions, and is still a seriously strong case, and could be modded again if need be but I've finally got her where I want her, and compared to its initial public release its way more efficient at cooling than it traditionally was in the beginning.
I modded it because I had ideas to improve the initial case airflow path, I could have easily bought some case possibly close to my ideas, if there had been one.
But wheres the fun in that, I love performance modding cases!
My dad always said, "Why can't you just leave things alone, you think you know more than the manufacturer designers that designed the the things in the first place."
Uh Yeah!
Most traditional case designs are cookie cutter do whats been done with little variations, but its good to see new designs finally appearing on the market.
Heres a good example of possible design changes coming, with chambered sections to isolate the heat production of each section.
Its not completely there yet but Thermaltake is definitely taking a step in the right direction, its a little on the expensive side, but as always you get what you pay for.
