So for example let's take some headset which has a removable aux cable for connecting it to your PC or console or whatever. If I grab a 3.5mm male to USB male adapter cable ( one this this: https://bit.ly/2YK9fHa ) and connect the headset in USB will it work normally or does it need a sound card or something?

A good sound USB sound card costs a lot and that adapter is cheap. I have my speakers connected in the rear ports and my front case ports are busted they don't work so I thought maybe that way I could plug both of them in.

There are cheap USB sound cards, but you may not be too happy with how they sound, for $10 you can get a small simple card, this seems to have good reviews https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Hea...=B00NMXY2MO&psc=1&refRID=PRXV08SGK4CHFD2CF3KK

Or you can get 3.5mm cable extenders and run...
Yea I know it would work with a sound card like that I just wanted to know if it would have worked with straight up that one cable. And about the mic, the adapter I posted has a 3 stripe jack, third stripe is for the mic as I know. Wouldn't that cover the mic problem?

no, it won't work with a straight up cable, sorry. and the mic has it's own input for that converter i listed. you would need a Modmic https://antlionaudio.com/products/modmic-5

so, with regular headphones with a 3.5mm jack, that would go into your motherboard audio, the modmic in the mic jack and you can then make any set of headphones into a game set.

going further, you could add a nice sound card to hook them to, if your headphones are of really good quality and could benefit from that. the modmic and your own favorite headphones is my pick

Any particular reason you want to do this? You need a USB DAC/sound card for this to work.

Or you can get 3.5mm cable extenders and run the rear ones closer to the front if you want to reach them easier.
