hi, does anyone know how to make a copy of "Black & White"?? i tried serveral burning softwares, but it always can't copy. please help!
thanks

:)

CloneCD should help in these cases. It copies data raw, meaning it will copy and write every bit that is there on the CD exactly as it is (or it can even amplify weak sectors).

Try www.cdmediaworld.com and www.gamecopyworld.com for good utilities and information, strictly for game backup purposes of course.

Black and White uses SafeDisc2 Disc protection. These games have a bunch of unreadable sectors at the beginning and at spaced intervals, I think. Very hard to rip an ISO off of those discs. Best of luck.

Thanks for the info.

Have any links of games that use SafeDisc2 protection? I want to see if my new burner can back these up. Although, I have very few later games.

i tried clone CD with ClonyXXL, the thing is mad low, wasting me 2 hours to burn 5%, then the progress stops at 5% for more than 45 minutes, then i canceled it.
it's true that there are alot of unreadable dataZ at the very beginning of the CD.
i will go find some other methods later, thanks for all your guys commendz.

:)

Odd, I was able to back up the disk with CloneCD. Also, Blind Write is excellent! (yes, better than CloneCD).

If you do use BW, it is HIGHLY recommended that you use the burner to read the CD image and not use an secondary DVD/CD-Rom. Also, the read is slow, that's normal, but the writes are pretty snappy.

after i did some research, i copied the Game successfully.
the program i used is Nero 5.5.8.0, i choosed "Ignore illegal TOC type" and "Force raw reading with write data uncorroctly", then i start to make the Image for the "black & white".
the burning progress totally took 4 hours and 11 minutes to fininsh, really long time.
so after the cd is done, i tested it. i uses it to do a fresh installaion - "works". then i used the ClonyXXL to check the CD, the "SafeDisc2" is gone, it's protection free now.
but the sad thing is, when i try to play the game with the CD, the game regonized it's not the original CD.

Any commend about getting the last thing done?
thanks

:)

Try using CloneCD, but on read and write, load in the "protcd" settings. It works best (believe it or not) with older versions of CDClone, like 3.2.2.1

Yes, it goes slow as hell thanks to the unreadable sectors.

And because it doesnt work, that means that you havent actually made a succesful copy

I would try some of the more exotic utils people have been suggesting. I like DiscDump, myself.

Yes!!
The Older Version of Clone CD really works, i burned it, and even faster than any other softwares, total time was 1 hour and 30 minutes. i used the way which "bgates2b" saied, it works perfectly. thanks alot!
And one more question, is there any way to convert a Clone CD image to a ISO file??

:)

I sujest you use BlindRead and BlindWrite from www.blindwrite.com . It can copy anything. As long as your CD burner is compatible, you can copy any game, with the protection in tact.

safedisk2 is out of the realms of possibility with my ricoh 12x burner unfortunately...

ive found serious sam 2 has it
as does wizardry8 and icewind dale.

Which version of CloneCD did you try the first time and which CD-RW are you using? I just tried the beta version of CloneCD, 4.0.0.1 (really slick with no options needed). It backed up Civilization III (SafeDisc2) perfectly. I even ripped at full speed (still took 12 minutes) and burned at full speed (3 min and 16 secs). The backup copy installs and runs great.

I'm using a Cyberdrive 36x burner.

Well, i first tried the Clone CD 4.0.0.1, but the burning progress seems never move, then i canceled it after 30 minutes. Then i tried the newest version of BlindWrite, same thing canceled it after 30 minutes for 0% buffering. then i download clonyXXL 2.x to check the protection for my CD, it shows SafeDisk2, then i tried to use CloneCD again with ClonyXXL, the progress was still long, 2 hours something for 5% done, and i still canceled it. after all, i tried Nero 5.5.8.0, took me 4 hours to get this job done, but the CD which copied out can't play the game since it got detected as not the original one. So i tried the Clone CD 3.3.4.1, and load the protcd at read and write, it takes only like 1 hours and 30 minutes to get the job done, and the cd was perfectly burned.
my CDRW is Lite-on 24x10x40 with the latest fireware version.

I think part of the problem with the newer versions of CloneCD is that, if you are in Great Britian or the United States, it has a setting that doesn't enhance weak sectors; a sort of copying prevention mechanism. I heard in THC that you can bypass that by setting your machine to Canada (..eh). The older versions of CloneCD don't have that

Now, as for Blindwrite, I do recommend downloading the manual from their website. It tells you how to set everything, and I always recommend writing all CD's in DAO RAW, regardless of what burning method they recommend.

As for B&W, the cow is lame, the tiger acts like one is sexually assaulting it everytime you rub it's belly. Go with the monkey, but be careful what you say if someone asks you "what you're doing?" "oh, just spanking my monkey"

Bgates2b might have something there. I forgot about the Region setting (but I thought it was for older versions). I was trying a really old version of CloneCD and learned about the Region setting. (I think it was in Lagger's thread). I set my system for another region but it didn't help. I had completely forgotten about it when I had loaded 4.0.0.1.

There wasn't an option for "weak sectors", though. In fact, there weren't any options except speed. The log said that CloneCD automatically set "fast skipping" but nothing about these weak sectors.

Strange that you are having trouble with the Liteon. I've always heard that they do well with RAW copying. Maybe B&W is an unusually difficult disk to backup. I don't have that game so I can't say.
