I will be running mostly business/work/personal software (No gaming / Video encoding, etc).

For example I will be doing a lot of: Office software, Word Document, Excel, Spread sheets, Lot of web browsing & tabs, Macro/automation software (Creation & running), installing programs & creating portable apps in VirtualBox.

I am planning on purchasing used and I might OC. (I have an arctic cooler, freezer pro 7)

The Dual Core E8600 has 3.33 GHZ

while the Quad Core Q9550 has 2.80 GHZ. (And costs me $50 extra)

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

I am also planning to purchase a SSD drive to help increase performance. (Crucial M4 64GB)

Guess i was wrong :L I just thought that becuase it was a wolfedale chip it wouldnt oc that well.

Good choice and good luck with your computer

Wolfdale was a very serious overclocker... I remember when it first came out, computer nerds everywhere spazzed in their pants over how well they overclocked and stayed cool. I myself have a 4.0 Ghz E8400 running on the stock cooler... They were overclocked much better than the Conroe.
