well the i9 which was speculated for release was named the i7 extreme edition.

There fixed it for you. As far as I know the i9 was one of those internet myths that caused a lot of headaches for the pre-sales group with people calling up wanting to know where to get an i9. Pre-sales would tell the person that we weren’t releasing an i9 and the customer would swear that we were because he had just read it on the internet. Just so you know not everything that you read on the internet is true.
