Hi all,

I'm building a new system ( http://pcpartpicker.com/p/aoxo ) and I'm getting ready to choose my memory.

Top one has a CL of 10, bottom one 9. Is the 9 worth the extra $40?

With a CL of 10, this one is $40 more than the Vengeance with CL=10. Is the Dominator series that much better than the Vengeance series? Does this one trump the Vengeance with CL=9?

Well, I would go for CORSAIR DOMINATOR, that is the RAM u can push to the speed, but there is not much to gain performance wise.

Check this. There is hardly any difference in performance.

Well, the OP wants to spend on nice upper end mobo and so why not get something from the same category, but better?

Sure, u can argue that u can get any mobo, any cheapest Z77 mobo and it will do too,

but since he started high, I assume he wants to have to have better than average since he marked mobo @ $229.99.

Oh yeah I completely understand but I was just wondering what was wrong with his choice or if there was a particular feature that I missed when comparing boards :)

Funny you should show those benchmarks. I JUST finished reading that article before I came back here.

Funny you should mention another motherboard. Just before I read the AnandTech article, I went through website support hell at Intel. I was trying to find out what memory is officially supported by the MB and the Corsair 8GB module they listed doesn't exist anywhere other then their documentation. Just trying to send them an email to ask a question was one of the most horrible web experiences I've ever had. If this is what all of their support is like then I'm more than willing to entertain other suggestions.

As for pushing the RAM, I only intend to OC gently (having never done it before) - meaning I'll only OC as high as I can go on the default voltage.

Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4. Very likely I'll be processing the monster image files from a Nikon D800. Not particularly insterested in video, but I'm sure I'll play with it some, just because it's there. And hey, you never know how much I'll like it.

In addition to PS and LR4, I usually have another 10-12 programs (office stuff, programming, utilities and such) open with a couple of them running things concurrently. And I always have a million tabs open in Firefox.

I want a system that's responsive. And I'm a little interested in trying out a RAMDisk.
