XMSYellowBeard, I guess the real question I wanted to ask, is how high, can I actually run the vdimm, on this memory ? Spec. is 1.9v, but I suspect it could handle 2.1v ?

Most likely it is the Vdimm. If you cannot run 1.9v or more then the memory will not be stable. When Asrock says it will support DDR800 it apparently means "IF" the memory is JEDEC compliant for 1.8v Vdimm.

You could try a volt mod for Vdimm if you felt brave but, a new MOBO is probably the best idea. Make sure you get one with OCing suppport. If you are running a C2D CPU, then the Gigabyte DS3 is supposed to be a great buy.

EDIT: Which memory do you have again? PC6400C4 or the PC8500?

My memory: CM2X1024-6400 XMS6405v5.1 (ProMos)

bought in a TWIN package ('matched' pair).

[EDIT]

Yeah, this motherboard was just a quick fix, while I waited to see how other nv590 boards progressed, since I really don't see any that I like, ill probably get the ABIT NF-M2 nView. according to the reviews, and the manual, it has just about every OC option available, which means that whatever the board defaults to, I would still be able to change it (vdimm wise). Only sort of 'bad' I hear about this board, is one reviewer on newegg claims it wont go past 230mhz 'FSB', but I always take reviews from there with a grain of salt (either way, for good or for bad). Regardless, I've never had any problems with ABIT board, that weren't ironed out in short order with a BIOS update.

Any how . . . Im starting to sound like an ABIT sales rep . . .

Well, so far so good. Just got the system up and running, and aside from some boot up issues, while USB drives are connected, everything seems smooth DDR2 800. I'll put 'her' through the ringer, once I get a few things going . . .

Look Taco, how old are you ? I'm not an idiot, as I've already made perfectly clear to you, I've been OC'n computers most likely before you ever used one. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE MEMORY. How many times do I have to say that, to drill it into your thick skull ? Now, if you want to say something usefull, I'm all ears, but in case you havent even noticed, I havent even been talking to you, since a week or more, get over yourself, and let the people I'm addressing talk.

XMSYellowBeard was being nice when he said 'people look up to you' taco, I know I for one dont pay any attention to what you say, because you THINK you know everything, but you dont.

XMSYellowBeard, anyhow, this system is very solid now. Right now, I'm running this 3800+ @ 2.82GHZ, memory is only running at 352.x mhz, 5-5-5-18 timing, but I bumped the vdimm up to 2.0v. vcore is at around 1.445v(according to CPU-Z, its set at 1.4v in the BIOS), and I could probably juice it up a bit, but I do not feel comfortable pushing the voltage any further for now. There is still plent of room on the HT link, as right now, its only running @ 940MHZ. One thing I did notice however, is that both these motherbaord seem to want to run this memory @ 533, 5-5-5-18, when the SPD says its rated 533 @ 5-5-5-12, any ideas whats going on with this ?

I have no idea why those boards want to run that particular speed. However, that is why I ALWAYS set my RAM timings manually as opposed to using SPD.

What CPU multi and memory divider are you using now?

Right now, memory is set to DDR2 667 under memory configuration, CPU/memory (2.76GHZ) divider is CPU/8, memory is NOW at 345 DDR. The system ran fine for a day, at 235 CPU, but locked up in a game during the next day, so I've now dropped the CPU to 230 MHZ. Northbridge at 4x, and southbridge at 3x, set manually.
