pffft, why would c: would be more vulnerable, get a good AV/firewall/spyware detector and it wont be vulnerable!

Specifying the Default Operating System for Startup
If you have more than one operating system on your computer, you can set the operating system that you want to use as the default one for when you start your computer:
• Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
• On the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
• Under System startup, in the Default operating system list, click the operating system that you want to start when you turn on or restart your computer.
• Select the Display list of operating systems for check box, and then type the number of seconds for which you want the list displayed before the default operating system starts automatically.

To manually edit the boot options file, click Edit. Microsoft strongly recommends that you do not modify the boot options file (Boot.ini), because doing so may render your computer unusable.

Hehe, funny they make you go this way.
Go in c:\
double click on boot.ini!

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professionnel" /fastdetect

multi(0) is the IDE controller ID, then its the HD id, 0 master, 1 slave... than its the partition...then its the directory, then the text you wanna show, then fastdetect speedup thing up, you can throw a few other switch there too!

And yeah be carefull, I suggest copy/paste it under, modify to suits your need, try it THEN delete the original...

yup agree with you...BUT I'm running win2k here(at work) no such thing as MSconfig!
Anyhow I learned that in one class and I thought I'd share it, can be usefull if you have limited access/dead controller whatever, you can manually edi the file with programs like ntfs2dos anyhow it can come in handy!

er... this is affected by chipset (you learn something everyday i guess)? Some of my other OS booted fine though, like the windows 2000 Pro Chinese. Is there anyway to fix this, like slipstream (or is slipstream only for updates?).

well ned i guess i have to thank you for making me slowdown. as that when i reinstalled windows, i took the time to test out each program after i install them, and founded that the version of Zonealarm i had was too old to be properly used with something in windows, causing it to slow down and hang... Well now better head to Zonelabs for a new version.

there you go
#1 rule is to do 1 thing at the time, especially when its with new hardware/software! Much easier to troubleshoot afterwards!
