face the facts kid.. You simply don't have what it takes to assemble a PC, no matter if it is an Intel or AMD system.

You should have more interest in learning and troubleshooting by yourself instead of posting like crazy for solution to problems you created yourself.

Getting a dell will give you at least a functionnal computer where you'll get more knowledge and give you more time to mature a bit.

You make a fool of yoursefl over her. Now, get a Dell, get lost and dont come back before 2010...

Ok...i found a post that says he was having problems after installing memory in a different pattern he would get weird bsod's that he couldn't track down. He recommended resetting the cmos EVERY time you make a physical memory change in that dfi board. Err that's how he fixed his problems anyway.

There was another person i found having similar issues, but he hadn't figured his out. The bsod error he had, started out "Driver_IRQ...".

I would recommend putting the memory back in the 2 and 4 slots, then update to the latest non-beta bios. I'm going to be taking off from work here shortly so i won't have access to this anymore tonight, at that point.

You could always bring the computer to a shop, ask them to make it functionnal and pay them. It might cost you less than having to send the parts back..

Don't let the man bring you down! Start hitting the tech forums...do searches there...places like anandtech forums and overclocker's forums, you can do the same kind of search in here too; Google is great...but not everything on the web is on google...even though it seems like it sometimes. I may check this when i get home...Good luck. Don't worry about our gender challenged friend 😉, who isn't helping much either heh; you'll get it.

i have found this at the DFI street site:
**UPDATE**

the system is working and both sticks of vx are completely fine - i wonder how many sets of ram have been rma'd because of this board????

steps to get up and running:

(1)pull power cord and move the reset jumper - i left it like that over night (if you pull the battery you probably wont have to wait very long for things to clear)
(2)system posts with 1 stick of ram
(3)go to bios load optimal defaults - reboot
(4)flash bios with what ever bios you want to use - but use the following switches: awdflash bios.bin /py/sn/wb/cd/cc/cp/ld/r/f that is important !!!
(5)computer will reboot on its own - go to bios load optimal defaults - reboot
(6)go to cmos reloaded menu and TURN OFF the auto update option - important!! - reboot
(7)set your memory timings up and all of your other settings

those are the exact steps i did to get back up and running.....this board made me think that at one point or another my cpu / ram / video were dead and none of the above was true - it was just this lame bios running wild....

the vx is now doing 260x10 again with the timings in my signature... what a stressful couple of days this has been !

how do i use the switches that is listed in here? or should i even try?

I agree - He doesn't have a clue what he is doing, I said that earlier in the thread.

Don't get me wrong, being a noob is complely fine, but buying all the parts and learning to assemble literally as you build is stupid.

well could you guys then help this noob learn how to do things the right way? Instead of ignoring me...

Now i have used the offcial 3.10 bios and still the smae thing... i'm beginning to think that i need to set my ram settings to the ones that OCZ recommanded...

hmm seems that that is the only option left to me now... i will first to try to use the repair option on the cd before doing this though... and i got the partitions set up so that i have 5 partitioned and formated drives.

thanks for the msconfig tip, it does make sens because the only thing msconfig does is go check some registry values and some files, everything can be done manually just a bit longer...Still I'll look into it!

How did things go? Did you try the bios with those tweaks? They kinda make me wary...

DOOOD! SLOW DOWN! , take a deep breath, and think thing thru. I never saw so many issues while building a single computer!

Brings me back to this article where the guy couldnt setup a DFI board, maybe we should ask your degree of confidence/expertise before recommanding this board! Never worked on a DFI board, but I cant imagine how hard it can be!

hmmmm well after all night of tweaking, i have founded out that DFI doo NOT support Ntune and NFirewall (or w/e name its got...) so i go into safe mode and killed them... it worked...

following the advice of others. format, reinstall. and do not install ntune and firewall.....

now i'm on the reinstall part of this healthy learning processes....

o and i did not try the switches with the flash, too many people said it was dangerous and the person who did it had much more experince than me, I have just flashed my bios to 3/10 (second newest) as that i couldn't get the newest one from DFI (server crash?? virus attack? hacked in???).

Congrats...All you haterz c what is goin down! We have a learner!

Congrats on finding that issue...i had mine disabled from the start on my nforce 4 (firewall on my router and i wanted to share files from that pc...)...so it didn't even cross my mind (however now that you've said something, i remember reading about that somewhere...)
