Hello,

CPU overheating rapidly on start, can't leave it on for even one minute

So I built a PC a few years ago and it has always run fine with no overheating issues ever until today I was going to clean a part of it near the radiator of the Corsair H100i V2 and after I put it back together I turned it on and very soon I got a CPU overheating warning.

I turned the PC of and after a bit of cooling I turned it back on and opened up the BIOS. All the fans running but the CPU temp will start at around 30c but then start to climb and get to 70 c within ~30 seconds. At this point I'm worried the CPU will get damaged so I just shut it off.

No clue what to do. Intel i7 and Asus Strix mobo, don't remember the exact model right now.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Please include/list your specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard: make and model as well as it's BIOS version
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU: make and model of the PSU
OS: version of the OS

You might want to see if disconnecting the AIO's connectors and reconnecting them changes the issue. If you have any BIOS updates pending for the motherboard, see if updating to the latest(gradually working your way up) helps resolve the issue.

I had the Corsair H100i GTX before I went crazy on upgrading to Water Cooling.

I did the exact same thing, took my PC a part, cleaned everything up and put it all back together. When starting the PC, my CPU started to rise, I checked the tubes on the GTX and one side was hot and other was cold.
I tried everything from what people have said on the net, nothing worked. (Was said that it could be a issue with the pump)

I was about 1 month away from a expired warranty (5 years warranty) so i emailed Corsair about it and then RMA'd it, sent a replacement. I then sold it to a friend at a good price and hes not had any issues.
