I have these CPU spikes followed by huge fps drops and it persists for every game i play. Here is a screenshot of a typical spike (seen on the second core) http://imageshack.us/f/821/clipboard02hz.jpg/ which happend while playing Bloodline Champions. My specs are:
Pentium D 3.00 GHZ
4GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 6870
So um, should it be that way ? I've tried turning off Enchanted speedstep technology and setting win7 power setting to hight performance. Haven't found C1E settings in my bios.
Here is a screenshot of temperatures after playing.

Also keep seeing CPU clock speed changes.

Don't know if it means anything, cause i am hardware newb, but i though it was relevant.
I'd really appreciate any advice.

Dude..., ^^ that Pentium D simply cant keep up with your 6870....

Thats the problem, I had a Pentium D 3.4 4GB 800 ram dual channel, and a XFX5670 ddr5....I later got a for cheap a Core 2 Duo e7500 2.93 and it made a DrAmAtIc improvement.

Trust me a put a much slower pci-e card in your pc (even a X1600 or 8600GT)and you'll see the spikes disappear....

I really cant stress how much of a performace boost I got back then from just a better CPU. The D's have 1-4mb cache and 800 fsb, My core2duo e8600 3.33 has 6mb and 1033 fsb.
