Question CPU Upgrade?? Help please

Hi, I currently have an RTX2060 + i7 8700 and I am looking to upgrade my cpu to another intel processor but a better performing one and then eventually upgrading my GPU to match that. I will upgrade my motherboard to definitely be compatible with ten cpu that I buy but I am unsure which CPU is best for me to get more performance.

Could anyone give some suggestions? Maybe ones that give more performance in the i5 to i9 area thanks!
(I play rust and I really need a more powerful cpu)

Budget doesnt matter too much, I’m just looking for a wide range of options from lower budget to more expensive
And the Mobo will depend on the cpu that I buy (I prefer Intel though)
I can buy parts in the USA as long as I’m not paying ridiculous tax as I’m in the UK🤣

If budget is not important, I'd go to an upper level i7.

12700 or 12700k or 13700k

13700k will not be available at retail until I think Oct 20.

You could make an argument for an i9, but you would be deep into the diminishing returns curve.

If budget hampers you, step down to i5-12100 to i5-12600k area. There's several in that range.
