hi! i know this is really old but what im asking for is, is it worth upgrading from i7-4770 to an i7-4790k and overclocking it, (im going to trade the old cpu and add 40usd and get the i7-4790k)
currnetly i own
i7 4770
gtx 1070 inno3d
msi z97 pc mate
8gb ram (planing on getting another 8gb)
psu 600w 80+ bronz
i fell like this cpu is botterneckign the gpu on hight framerates.

thnx all

While an overclocked 4790K would probably free up a little bit of CPU resources to allow the GPU to stretch it's legs a bit more... Unless the net cost is pretty cheap (personally, I'd say ~$20, but you decide what is "cheap" to you), I probably wouldn't bother.

As for the PSU, that's really not a good unit at all....
What will the 4790K cost you in the end?

Unless it's a matter of $20 or so, I'd say no.
A 4770, even at stock clocks is still a viable CPU in 2019.

As for "bottlenecking".... how are you arriving at this conclusion? Are you monitoring CPU/GPU/RAM utilization in game? If so, what are your results?
Which games are you playing? What in-game settings are you trying to achieve? What resolution are you playing at?

Which "600w" PSU?

thank you for answering,
currently i play fps games, 3 major titles whitch are: rainbow six siege, pubg, apex legends i mostly play R6S now and im using low ingame preset for competitive gameplay
im playing on a 1080p 144hz monitor and i just see in task mannager that the gpu dosent go above 80% usage while cpu is in between 90-99%
for the psu i have : Aerocool KCAS, 600W 80 Plus BRONZE
