Hi. Long time reader, first time poster. I'm building this for a friend. There will be minimal to no overclocking. I'll probably just tweak the RAM/other BIOS settings when I set it up.

With the motherboard, I kept going back and forth between that and the Asus A8N-SLI Premium. I also considered the SLI-DR and Ultra-D. I'm still kinda open to those, I guess. Anyway, feedback would be appreciated.

Looks good, I would say you don't need the add on sound card, unless you are doing professional quality sound mixing.
On-board works great for games and CD's.

DFI has had an Infinity line of older nforce boards, but they just released the nF4 Infinity and I read a few positive reviews. I was going to try it out, but instead I've decided to go with the Asus because I have extensive use with that board and there will be no OCing (pretty much that board's only weak point IMO).

Since OCZ couldnt make the cut in the PSU showdown I would reconsider that one.

ASUS P5WD2 Premium
Intel 3.73 EE @ 5.6Ghz
XMS2 DDR2 @ 1180Mhz

You could throw in another DVD-ROM so he can copy on the fly, but aside from that I can't think of anything else.

I take it he's not going to use an ancient 15" monitor and some el-cheapo speakers? I built a system for a friend who 'already had a monitor'.. and it turned out to be an ancient 15" screen with a max res of 800x600. Hardly the best way to show off pretty graphics  I doubt this is the same situation though...

Yeah, the monitor will most likely be a Dell 2405FPW.

Ok, now for PSUs - I only have one question on the Xclio (found here: <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817189001" target="_new">http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817189001</A> ). On output, it shows this: +12V1@19A, +12V2@18A. The BFG 7800GTX says that it needs 26 or more amps on the 12V rail. Would this be fine? (the OCZ is rated +12V@33A)

The numbers look good on that PSU but I dont have any experience with that brand. I would choose one from the PSU Stress test that has passed. The last two on this page should be good <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Manufactory=1697&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&SubCategory=58&Submit=Property" target="_new">here</A>
