I'm not impressed. It's nice but not mindblowing. Furthermore I find Crytek games boring, from Far Cry to Crysis Warhead none of the games really kept my attention. I guess the run and gun formula got old for me way back in 2003.

I am surprise it took TOMS to report this a month after I saw these pics in Playstation Magazine! This article was meant for Crysis 2 ON CONSOLES. Which really blew my mind as I am now more of a PC gamer than a console gamer as I used to love consoles.

However, this Crysis should be fun assuming we can "interact" with the city terrain!!

@Honis - Yeah, my thoughts too. Not about your details per se; I just did not think these screenies are all that and a bag of chips. Not to mention, still caps are useless for anything less than wallpaper, IMHO.

I cant wait to see the buildings and marble crumble in 3d fashion! Instead of shanty houses and metal sheets for roofs we finally get to interact with everyday city structures! I am waiting to see that next gen DX11 can do for this game. I wonder if Crytech will ever adopt PhysX but I guess they dont need to having such a great physics engine to begin with. Imagine a 3 year old engine still maxing out computers and still visually sitting at the top of all games on all platforms!

Why does it take place in New York? If the aliens originated in the Pacific islands, that means they would've already taken over the US from the west if they've gotten to New York.

I hope this is the case and not some plot hole.

GODDAMMIT! just as cards became fast enough to run Crysis decently in non-slideshow mode, they're at it again..

all eyes on fermi

Hopefully it will require a SLI Fermi to play 25x16 max graphics. Call me traditional, but I'd much rather play FPS games on the PC, instead of the consoles. Although games on a 60in TV and surround sound is better than a 30in monitor, it just never felt right to me for FPS. Racing on the other hand, is console all way.

Im with you, Honis. When we took the leap from the DX 9 Oblivion to DX10 max Crysis, the only logic and impressive step is photo realism. Until then, graphics dont impress me like they used to.

It looks.... not as nice? =( It's too... shiny. The last game looked real , but this looks like real life with plastic wrapped over everything.

Oh well , nice to see some screenies.

Are this "real" gameplay screenshots or just some 2D digital art???
Crytek has a history in releasing 2D digital art as game images...

[citation][nom]tekeffect[/nom]finaly something to tax my system...whens this coming out?[/citation]
something to spend a tax rebate on. When does the next one come in? =)

I liked the original Crysis, but I didn't care for Warhead.
Hopefully I find this one fun too.
... I played the original Crysis at 640x480 on a Pentium D, 1GB of DDR2 533 single channel and a OEM Nvidia 7500LE. I still found it fun.

It better be Hort+
I got my 3 monitors, and I better be using all of them!

the obvious question here is: can consoles run crysis 2 ??
and i hope that the PC version wont be lowered to match the limited performance of consoles!!

If you guys hit up youtube and search for CryEngine 3 and watch their demos at E3, you'll learn the following:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OHGjSm_RMo

1. The game is developed parallel on the consoles/pc, which means a developer can make a map, and it will be INSTANTLY rendered to all 3 gaming devices, so there won't be any "porting" as the engine natively codes the game for each device.

2. This means that the maps/storyling/cutscenes will be the same but hardware req. can be drasticaly different.

3. For example, they could have made an extreme setting for the pc which uses different textures and lighting etc, making for much higher eye-candy visuals...

[citation][nom]Restatement3dOfTed[/nom]So there is hope that making it playable on 360/PS3 won't drag it into the mud for PC, too. Outstanding![/citation]
exactly what i was thinking, but looking at the pictures they look way better then anything i've seen so far :)

i bought a new pc 2-3 months ago and was hoping to use it 😛

I think my GTX 260 just pissed itself... Don't worry little buddy, you're gonna be replaced by a Fermi card or upper end ATI card by the time this game comes out...

That's pretty much exactly what I thought when I saw them. They're hardly groundbreaking, much less mind blowing. :??: Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but these don't really look any better than the first Crysis to me. To be fair, that's not really a bad thing; the first one looked absolutely amazing. 😀

Clearly it's time to break out my discs and reinstall it to refresh my memory.

I'm so sick of this crap being called screen shots. This is not a screen shot. This is concept art. This is not a screen shot of Crysis 2. This is concept art of Crysis 2.
