I can't say I'm impressed either do so I won't.Consoles are having a terrible effect on what could have been.
On top of that restrictive DRM is killing pc games at the other end of the candle.Yet they expect us to buy crazy high end machines while shafting us.

I'm going to have to agree with Honis - the engine looks about the same. Check out these shots I made of Crysis 1 (before they "fixed" the ability to force AA on all 32-bit textures.. foliage):

Now, while it's true that, at these settings, I could barely get 2fps on my two GTX 8800 SLI, they are still nice to look at. I always felt that if Crysis 2 was just as good, but ran 20x better, we'd be set!

I hope to God they don't screw the PC crowd with DRM that essentially hijacks your system.

That alone is why I didn't play anymore of the Crysis games after the first release.

My first thought upon looking at the nanosuit, "Tessellation?"

If they are real screenshots, who knows?

Also, Toms, your image handling is retarded! Please change this.

I just hope it's coded more efficiently than the first two (tho warhead was more like Crysis 1.5). I'm sure efforts to cut out details will be made apparent when it comes to playing the game. This engine was designed with the goal of getting the most out of the PS3 and 360 after all. I'd hardly expect the large free roaming experience of the first Crysis.

Sexy. It's nice to catch a glimpse at what our graphics cards will be capable of running smoothly... oh, probably 3-5 years from now, at least for those of us who dont feel like shelling out $800+ on GPUs.

[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]I'm so sick of this crap being called screen shots. This is not a screen shot. This is concept art. This is not a screen shot of Crysis 2. This is concept art of Crysis 2.[/citation]

No, this is not concept art. If it's running off of the game's graphics engine (which, judging by the series of images and placement of objects / environments, etc., it is), then it's a screenshot.

If this were rendered in 3DS Max or Maya, it would look much better. Most PC gamers can tell a screenshot from pre-rendered concept art.

[citation][nom]A no name is[/nom]The game has lower system requirements than the original Crysis.Hopefully the highest settings will be more intensive. I'm fairly sure, though, that it takes place in the city for the reason that it will be easier to render, for the consoles.[/citation]

It doesn't surprise me. it will look like Crap on Consoles, and awesome on the PC. And then all the Console Kiddies will cry about Crytek dumbing it down for them. And Crytek will have to explain in baby language to Console Noobs that their systems suck and they need a PC to really enjoy the game.

I hope.

[citation][nom]mp562[/nom]How about some actual gameplay screenshots, not just the movie clips? Of course the movie clips looks polished.[/citation]

These are gameplay screenshots. Why is it so hard to believe? I'm tempted to say that most of the people that doubt that these images are gameplay images are used to low-res console games (especially the sub-720p that Modern Warfare 2 uses). My own Crysis Warhead on my Radeon 4890 looks close to this, although the anti-aliasing, dynamic lighting, and bump mapping in this sequel look better. Not to mention the cityscape makes everything so much more impressive.

I think before anyone else doubts the power of progressive PC gaming technology, it might help to look at some DirectX 11 demos. If Crysis pushed the envelope for DX9 visuals, and knowing that DX11 is a huge jump from even DX10, you can be sure the gaming world is going to be wowed by Crysis 2.

However, like someone else mentioned, 'good graphics a good game do not make'... however, regardless of how repetitive the gameplay in this series is, let's give praise where praise is due -- it IS an amazing engine.

Hmm I'm wondering how this will run on my Phenom x4 3.0 Ghz with dual 285 OC 285 GTX's.

I was disappointed earlier this yeah when I got my second 285 and couldn't find a game that really push's them. And I agree with the above posters on console's screwing up the market for PC games. They are ~ok~ but their getting long in the tooth and dev's need to build separate engines / textures for PCs and not just "port" crap over.

Why are you guys still carrying on. he said "raciest" not "racist" two entirely different words:

racy [ˈreɪsɪ]
adj racier, raciest
1. (of a person's manner, literary style, etc.) having a distinctively lively and spirited quality; fresh
2. having a characteristic or distinctive flavour a racy wine
3. suggestive; slightly indecent; risqué a racy comedy
racily adv
raciness n

The screenshots look GOOD, but I think the original fared just as well and it didn't have the much more simple skyscraper landscape to help. Seriously, a large block of concrete is a lot easier to draw than a big ocean with jagged mountains and an awful lot of trees.

I already feel consoles are turning down the fidelity here.

there is now way you can have this graphics in ps3 or xbox maybe little close on ps3 crytek is the best firm ever. this games are great I finish the cryses in 2 days. I play non-stop. I hope they come with very long game play. love this company.,

Agree these graphics are not impressive at all anymore. Ive seen graphics like this for 5 years, give me something new.

[citation][nom]idisarmu[/nom]A game like that will never sell. Those are the RECOMMENDED settings you are talking about there, sir.PS: To all the people who hope they don't need a QUADfire or Tri-SLI/QUADSLI set up in order to max out this game: WHO CARES? Does it really matter if you can't max out the game as long as the game offers better graphics at the same frame rates as Crysis1. I guess it will hurt your ego to know that your $400 GPU cannot max out the latest games @ 1080p. ...just think of it this way: Your 5870 is still the king of single GPUs right now, and even when the 5890 comes out, the 5870 will still be a mighty force to reckon with, and you will still look at the prettiest graphics in the world.[/citation]

So, you like playing slideshows then?

Anyway, I never understood what was the obsession with the whole Crysis thing.

It's not like no other company can't produce an engine that can render those graphics. The reason nobody does it is because no hardware, especially the CPUs, can handle a game like this. And that's the reason that the cryengine2 didn't get adopted by anyone at all. That, and the piss poor programming.

One thing I REALLY hope they learned from the other games is how to make tree looks good in the distance. Even with crysis turned up to 16xAA the trees still look jagged and edgy. They need to use a blur or something to blend those leaves together instead of trying to render and anti-alias each leaf.

That is my one complaint.
